Theodore Roosevelt's Speech On Immigration
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 22 May 2007

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.  "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn ' t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt 1907.

New Congress, But Business as Usual! Democrats take over congress and nothing changes, business as usual. Am I crazy, thinking just because the democrats took control of congress, that something would be different. Not hardly. After failing to pass the minimum wage increase and doing nothing to help New Orleans and the south coast or to get us out of Iraq, they did accomplish one thing. The one thing that is a new, all time low in congressional crappola, changing when daylight savings time starts. Congress seams to think changing the date of when daylight savings starts will save some energy and take the minds of the American people off what is happening in Iraq. Like the Y2K fiasco of the 90s, convincing the people that if the date on your computer went to 0000 the world would end. Now it's daylight saving time. Mean while companies like "Halliburton" and "Exxon" are draining us dry and congress does nothing! Sorry Congress, but adding an hour to your cocktail time while forcing the working poor to go to work in the dark and stopping the living wage, is business as usual ! ....
